Slinkachu.
The 'Little People Project' started in 2006. It involves the remodelling and painting of miniature model train set characters, which then he would place and leave on the street. His aim is to reflect the loneliness and melancholy of living in a big city, almost being lost and overwhelmed. But underneath this, there is always some humour. He wants people to be able to empathise with the tiny people in his work.
My favourite Slinkachu pictures
This is one of my favorite Slinkachu pictures because from looking at the photo you can understand the story in which he used to be a solider. I like the Depth of field and how he focused on the man and the poppy, it gives it a good effect. Also the red poppy gives a good contrast against the grey background. |
This is probably my favorite picture, because looking at the photo you can see that the figures in suits are the government and the scruffy looking ones are poor and the government are trying to take money from them so there fighting for it. I love this creative idea because its linked to things what actually happen.
Similar artist to Slinkachu
Pierre Javelle and Akiko Ida
Most people start losing there wild childish imaginations when they grow up, but not Akiko Ida and Pierre Javelle. Since 2002, these two professional food photographers have been shooting a playful series of dioramas called MINIMIAM (“miam” is French for “yum”) that place miniature people in a world of over-sized food. The creative couple behind MINIMIAM met while studying photography at the Arts Decoratifs art school in Paris. Both share an interest in food photography and both are successful food photographers.
My favourite picture
This is my favourite picture because they take a ordinary food and then they make it into something creative. Like the watermelon and but construction worker figures on it and makes it look like they are working on it by placing the seeds in a clever angle. I like the background being blue too to give and idea of a summers day and giving the picture daylight. The seeds refelect off the light. |
The Artists
Personally I think these are the two artists who designed the most interesting pictures you will see in tiny projects , they add humor and character to there photos and they tell message through the picture usually which has a deeper meaning to it .
First Shoot
On my first attempt I tried to link my work with my research, I used reflection like the seeds in the watermelon also I used the red boat to contrast the grey background like the artist did with the poppy. I chose a simple outdoor scene and placed the slinkachu features on a puddle. My idea of the story was a man riding to his rescue boat looking for danger. For my second picture, I chose to have a theme of woman next to a racing car and the scratches on the tables make good affect making it look like tire marks. Finally Ichose a simple theme of an environment with a couple waiting to crossing the road and a man parking his scooter bike.
Second shoot
Best Shot
This is my best shot, i like my idea of the man building a wall of sand, I like how I kept the man in focus, I stood in the sand for the print. But I think I could have made this shoot more realistic by using props like toy construcsion figures. Also I could have experiment with different lighting or filters on photoshop.
Worst shot
This is my worst shot because the Slinkachu figure was out of focus also the angle and the design of the photo was boring it didnt have any purpose to it. The depth of field of field was poor because the camera wasnt focused of the toy figure.
Third shoot
Best shot
This is my best shot because I like how the focus point is on the slinkachue figures. The story behind this photo is a couple having a romantic evening on a swan. First I made an origami swan out of lined paper then using the Apples mac's and Ipads I put a picture of a sky and ocean for a the background. If I could recreate this shoot I would make a better origami swan out of coloured card and took the shoot out side therefore it would look more realistic.
Worst shot
This is my worst picture because the lighting wasn't good because the exposure was set too dark and also you can see the Ipad in the background which doesnt make it look realistic.
My fourth shoot plan
My plan is to freeze a small toy inside of an ice cube, and place slinkachu figures around it.I will do this by placing an toy inside an ice tray and freezing it then standing other miniature figures around it like there watching a gallery display.
Best shot
This is my best shot because I like how I caught the sharp details in the ice, Although the the photo is under exposed the dark shadows represents that sense of fear. If I was to recreate this shoot I would add more props to make it clear that they are in a gallery. Also I would change the focus point on the toy figures as well as the ice.
Worst shot
I don't like this picture because it is over exposured and it is out of focus. Also you can see the blue tack on the figure legs so it doesn't look realistic.
Fifth shoot
Best shot
This is my favorite shot, I like the final take because it looks very realistic. I made an origami basket out of red card, then attached a small balloon with red cotton onto it. My idea of this shot was a girl floating in a hot air balloon on an adventure. If I was to redo this shoot I would hold the balloon up in the sky so it gives the effect that it is floating in the sky. Also I would make the photo black and white on photoshop.
Worst shot
This is one of my worst shots because the balloon was out of focus and the exposure was set too low. Also the the figure is out of focus which makes the photo blured and you cant see the main object.
plan
Best shot
This is my favorite shot. I used a piece of white card to make it look like a backdrop, and the figure in the center of the card I have used as a model and the other figure is the photographer, I used my jewelry at the side to give it a glamorous theme. I like how I focused on the two figures and the angle that I took the photo. If I was to recreate this shoot I would cut out the white card neater around the edges. Also I would use less blue tack on the bottom on the figures
Worst shot
This is my worst picture because the toy figures were out of focus. Also the cameras focus point is on the chain which wasn't the main idea of my photo.

Last shoot-
Plan-
All my best shots.
If I was to redo my shoot I would recreate my 2nd 3rd ancd 4th shoot I feel they could be more higher level by using better objects and maybe use photoshop.I would also try change the lighting, composition and depth of field. I used miniature figures in the style of Slinkachu who was my main inspiration for this shoot. By completing this project I have learnt how how to change my focal point, F Stop and depth of field.
